MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
JOHN GALLETTA
At the heart of this course is John Galletta, a California DOJ Certified Instructor, NRA Firearms Instructor, and veteran defensive shooting trainer who brings more than 40 years of experience to the classroom.
John began teaching firearms safety in the early 1980s while serving in the United States Air Force, instructing fellow service members, friends, and family. Following his discharge in 1988, John continued his passion for training and became a full-time NRA Instructor, eventually founding Riverside CCW Training, which now provides certified instruction for CCW applicants in Riverside County, San Bernardino County, Arizona, Utah, and select cities across Los Angeles County.
A few highlights of John’s distinguished background include:
- Graduating the Riverside County Sheriff’s Academy in 2008 as the Highest Scoring Marksman in the history of the Palm Desert campus.
- Serving as an Instructor for the Federal Air Marshal Service's Los Angeles Field Office, including his role as a Preventive Radiological Nuclear Detection Instructor and member of the Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response Team.
- Instructing for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Counter Terrorism Operations Support Program.
- Becoming an Approved Concealed Carry of Weapons Instructor for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 2018
- John has personally trained thousands of students, and his work continues to empower women, new shooters, and first-time gun owners. He is also a proud supporter of the California Rifle and Pistol Association and the Second Amendment Foundation, consistently advocating for Second Amendment rights and responsible gun ownership.
- In 2023, John survived a violent armed robbery that required him to act decisively to defend his life and the lives of others. His deeply personal experience is shared throughout the course and brings real-world context to topics such as situational awareness, decision-making under duress, and the emotional and legal aftermath of using deadly force. His unique insights into “The Anatomy of Fear”—combined with teachings inspired by experts like Gavin de Becker and Lieutenant Colonel Dave Grossman—offer students a truly impactful and thought-provoking learning experience.

EXCELLENT Based on 661 reviews Big Mo2025-08-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was a very knowledgeable course online. I am a non-resident applicant but I am well experienced in gun safety. The information was very useful. I am very satisfied with the 3 hour course. I also paid for them to file my paperwork with Arizona Police department. It was well worth it. The thing I really had to do was a 15 minute call and get my electronic fingerprints. After that, make a call in a few days to AZPD. Lea was the person who help me with the entire process. She was awesome and answered any questions or concerns. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get their Arizona ccw and is no a resident of that state. Thank you so much Lea for all you do. Ratha Kong2025-08-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wanting to have my CCW permit for the longest and knowing the processs was long is sucks. Derek Morris2025-08-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent, smooth, and professional service. The concierge service was so much help and made the process a breeze. Colin Markwart2025-08-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The entire experience was fantastic! All of the material was extremely easy to follow and straight to the point. It is a nice easy weekend goal for folks who may not have much time during the week. I also love that there is 24/7 support ready to help you along the way. They make it very easy to not only digest the information but move the process along much faster than normal! For myself, I finished my course on a Sunday afternoon, and was approved by the following Tuesday! Overall, I would highly recommend this service! It’s affordable, accessible, informative, and I feel like it’s a great way for people to learn more about firearm safety and laws, for new and existing shooters and enthusiasts alike!! :) Tucker Moosman2025-08-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was super helpful for me since I travel alot and don't really have a set schedule, the online course is great and wasn't really boring so that helped alot as well. After I finished the course they continued to help through fingerprinting and all was approved and mailed off very quickly which usually takes a while. I would definitely recommend, especially if you don't have much time for planning something else. Jon2025-08-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing course, kept talking about mozzarella sticks made me hungry! The instructor was hilarious but very informative, I took a class 14 years ago and let it lapse, so I researched and found this class online. Nice little brush up. I didn’t use the concierge service, but however they still help you on the next steps with videos. Will definitely tell others about your videos! TIAA Cref2025-07-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Concealed carry for non-California residents is in its infancy; however, the program AZ CCW Online has is in line with a well-oiled machine that has been running for decades. If you're sick of going to California and having to decide whether to leave your gun at home or stop before the Colorado River and 1) make your firearm all but useless and 2) hope that you remember how to navigate the never-ending maze of firearm restrictions in California, should you come in contact with law enforcement, you now have another option: acquire your CCW license with the help of AZ CCW Online and its partnerships with the Riverside and San Bernardino County Sheriff Offices. Yes, you will have to sit through 12 hours of online video classes, but I found them to be both entertaining and informative. The aforementioned maze of CA gun rules is made perfectly clear by the instructor, who actually provides his real-world experience of having to use his firearm to defend his life and the lives of others. The process of obtaining the needed documents (fingerprints, identification documents, etc.) uploaded with the assurance of being in good order can only be described as a White Glove experience. These folks handle it all with amazing communication and attention to detail. Nothing can throw off an application process with any government entity than not ensuring Is are dotted and Ts being crossed, and they make sure everything is in good order so that all you have to do is provide the information. They will even assist in the live-fire qualification so there is no need to leave the Phoenix metro area in obtaining the ability to legally carry your firearm in California. I cannot recommend this service provided by AZ CCW Online enough. In my opinion, if you're looking to legally carry your firearm in California as an Arizona resident, they should be the first, and only, people to contact. Real Mr Tucker2025-07-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They are 100% the best, have gone above and beyond. Highly recommend. Fast efficient responses. Couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much! Cliff Branch2025-07-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Awesome service!! Super simple and fast. Not to mention extremely convenient! Vahe K2025-07-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’d definitely recommend AZCCWonline. The classes were really well put together—engaging enough that I didn’t lose focus. Each session was packed with useful info and covered every little detail you need to know while practicing proper firearm handling. After the course, you take a short test, and once you pass, you receive your completion certificate. From there, you can either submit all the required documents to AZDPS yourself, or you can use their concierge service (for an additional fee), and they pretty much handle everything for you. If you’ve got the extra bucks, I highly recommend using their concierge service. They double check all your paperwork to make sure there are zero errors and get things moving fast. I was approved within a week of them submitting everything on my behalf. Their customer service goes above and beyond they’re available 7 days a week, and I’ve always gotten a response in under 5 minutes. Well worth it to choose AZCCWonline for your CCW course. Thanks, Lea you’ve been fantastic!
